Family Session Details
I always recommend booking outdoor sessions an hour before the sunset for the best, soft golden light. Anything earlier tends to be too bright and harsh, so I can't guarantee the same results unless we are shooting indoors.
Sessions typically last about 20 minutes for the small package and up to 40 minutes for the largest. During that time, we'll capture a wide variety of shots - different poses , group combinations, and natural moments in between. I will guide you through it all.
Kids and babies
I work wonderfully with little ones ( I have three kids under five myself!), so I completely understand their short attention spans. We'll take break whenever needed, keep things fun, and move at their pace - no stress at all.
Weather
If the weather doesn't cooperate, we can either move the session indoors or reschedule for the same time the following week. My goal is always to make sure you have a smooth experience and photos you'll truly love.

How long does a typical session last?
A standard family session usually lasts about 20–40 minutes. This gives us plenty of time for a relaxed experience with lots of natural interactions, candid moments, and a few posed portraits too. I always follow the pace of little ones and take breaks if needed to keep everyone happy!
Where do family sessions take place?
Family sessions can take place at beautiful outdoor locations throughout Maple Grove, Minneapolis, and the surrounding Twin Cities area. I photograph in grassy fields, wooden trails, beaches, lakesides, and parks with beautiful natural light. Sessions can also take place in the comfort of your own home or backyard for a more relaxed, personal feel. We'll choose a location that fits your family's style and the overall feel you want for your photos.
What if my kids don't cooperate?
Please don't stress about perfect behavior. Some of the most meaningful images come from cuddles, movement, laughter, and real connection. I work with children at their pace and create a calm, playful environment that keeps the session feeling easy and enjoyable.
Do you help with posing?
Absolutely. I guide you through natural, flattering posing the entire session so you never have to wonder what to do with your hands or where to stand. I focus on genuine connection and movement rather than stiff poses, creating images that feel timeless and natural.
What time should we book our family session for?
Most outdoor family sessions are scheduled around sunset for the softest, most beautiful light. This creates the warm, dreamy look you'll see throughout my portfolio.
For in home sessions, late morning or early afternoon usually works best when your home has the most natural light. We'll choose the perfect timing based on your location, you children's schedules, and the overall feel you want for your session.
Can grandparents or extended family join?
Yes. Extended family sessions are always welcome. Grandparents and multigenerational photos often become some of the most treasured images. If you're planning a larger group, I would recommend booking a premium package so we can cover more photos and time.
Can we include our dog?
Absolutely. Dogs are always welcome to join your family session if they are comfortable around people and outdoor environments. Pets are part of the family too and often make sessions even more meaningful and personal.
When will we receive our gallery?
I pride myself on fast turnaround times. Most family galleries are delivered within 2 weeks, and many are finished even sooner.
Do you offer prints and albums?
Yes. Professional quality prints and custom heirloom albums can be ordered directly through your online gallery, making it easy to turn your favorite moments into keepsakes for your home.
How do we book a family session?
Simply choose your package and submit your booking through my website. A signed contract and retainer officially reserve your date, and you'll get a confirmation and preparation emails to your inbox.
